What is this course about?

Welcome to the online course “How to design a learning experience”.

This course is an excellent starting point for newcomers and those with little experience in non-formal education and developing educational activities in youth work.

This online learning course has 14 modules – it looks like a lot, but after you get a chance to go through the lessons, it might seem that we could even deliver more (and we will, in new versions of the online courses dedicated to the same topic).

The online course starts with an introduction to learning and defining learning, understanding different types of learning and learners, presented through the first two modules of the course. In the third and fourth modules, you have a chance to explore more about the principles of participatory learning in non-formal education and learning in different settings within youth work activities and projects.

Modules five to eleven provide you with practical steps and advices for developing educational activity based on the principles of non-formal education – from identifying objectives and target groups to using different methods, the flow of the activity and specific steps within the flow of educational activity.

After understanding the approach of non-formal learning, and after you know how to develop and implement an educational activity; the last three modules of the course provide you with extra advices on how to create a successful educational activity, what are some of the challenges and obstacles you can expect, and overview of different techniques and tools you can use for your educational activity.

If you want to learn more on any of the topics of the whole online course, don’t forget to check the resources we’ve used for this course. You can find the list of resources at the end of the 14th module.
