What is this course about?

Welcome to the online learning course “Empowering youth workers and youth peer leaders for prevention of cyberbullying among youth”. This online course is envisioned as an innovative and up-to-date digital tool for relevant topics, containing tools for preventing cyberbullying among youth. The course is aimed at interested individuals, youth workers and youngsters willing to become peer educators/leaders. Thus, in almost all of the 10 modules of the online course, you will often find advice and tips on how to use the specific information for work on educating young people about the prevention of cyberbullying.

The course consists of 10 modules, each with 2-5 lessons, covering the topics of violence and different forms of violence, youth work and prevention of violence, trolling and bots, cyberbullying, fake accounts on social media, and the effects that cyberbullying has on individuals, groups and communities. The last 3 modules of the online course are the ones that will be most useful for peer educators and youth workers – besides the 7 modules introducing the topics.

Module 8 covers an overview of the digital tools and resources for dealing with and preventing cyberbullying. Module 9 provides a learning space for peer educators and youth workers to reflect on the competencies, skills and approaches that peer educators working on preventing cyberbullying should have and continuously improve. Last, the 10th module presents an overview of some of the online campaigns organised around cyberbullying prevention, with practical tips on how to organise online campaigns.
